According to the German newspaper, the Financial Times has today published what claims to be confirmation that Xbox 360 has been reduced to €199 for the Arcade version, a drop of €80 on the current price.

The premium package is set to retail for €40 less at €299, as yet there is no information as to, if the 360 Elite will also be lowered in price.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed these price cuts but it is believed that an announcement will be made today, Monday, March 10.

It is clearly a reaction to the success of the rival Nintendo unit the Wii, new prices will put the base Xbox €50 cheaper than the Wii.
