The Greek Robin Hoods
So you’re in some Greek supermarket when 20 unarmed black-masked people come running into the store. Yes they commit the robbery, but they are unarmed and they don’t even go for the cash. Instead the each grab a handful of cheese, pasta, rice and other everyday necessities, run out of the store and place them in the middle of the street for anyone to take.
Welcome to the Robin Hoods of Greece (which are real). According to police and local officials they have never harmed anyone and most of them are women. As for the reason behind these activities? It so happens that Greece is going though hard economic times and inflation is up 4.9%. Currently people are more worried about finding their next meal than finding their next job and that has lead these modern day Robin Hoods to carry out the “deeds of kindness.” (You do notice that I did put that in quotation marks).
