46 years old, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is auctioning some of his art works at the Sotheby’s, Contemporary Art Day, New York, May 15, 2008 and Phillips, Contemporary Art Part II, New York, May 15 - 16, 2008.

Yesterday at the Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening he sold a manga style life-size sculpture titled “My Lonesome Cowboy” for $13,500,000 USD plus the Premium (11.0% of the bid), which is $1.6 million USD added to the final winning bid, “My Lonesome Cowboy” was sold for a total of $15,161,000 USD. it was originally estimated to be sold between $3-4 million.
