It could be some dude who was trying his new found Photoshop skills, but hearing the hints from Redmond WA and the rumors bouncing around the tech blogs that Microsoft is thinking about cutting prices to better compete with the Wii and PS3 it could be true.

Microsoft said that they have sold more than 18 million units compare to PS3 10 million units. Though, I have to stress that PS3 has been around a year less than Xbox 360.

It seems that the price of $149 for the Xbox 360 HD DVD is too high for consumers and rumor has it that Microsoft might decide to drop the price down to as low as $49.99 in the not too distant future. So, my advice is to lay low and wait for the price drop, then buy it. There are a lot of HD DVD out there and $49.99 is a good price whatever way you look at it.
