Steampunk ’sub-culture’ has been getting a lot of coverage on mainstream magazines both online and offline, whether this is a good thing, I don’t really know and only time will tell.

Steampunk enthusiast Jake von Slatt of the Steampunk Workshop met SF Steampunks H.M.S. Chronabelle at the recently Maker Faire and posted a short film made by them on his blog.

Steampunk has until now been a mainstay of craft fairs and destinations like eBay and Etsy, but today the New York Times fashion and style sections has a nice article on the influence of Steampunk on the latest fashion trend. For some strange reasons there seem to be a storm of interest in Steampunk right now, and I do hope that Steampunk doesn’t go mainstream just yet.

This steam punk Darth Vader mask was created by modifying an old mask that was bought at Disney World. Now up for sale on eBay, the auction is ending Apr-03-08. As of this moment, the bidding price was $65.50 USD, i think it’ll end at around $150 USD. I wouldn’t go for it, since i think it looks like a piece of junk, but the chest plate i digg.

Mark Edwards aka Amoebabloke from DeviantArt created this master piece R2D2 out of what look like a beer barrel and some junks. He is looking to sell it on to someone who is really into this kind of thing and not somebody who is just loaded and buys this piece of art out whim.
