Japanese scientists at Osaka University’s Department of Adaptive Machine Systems have staged the world’s first ‘robot theatre play’.
The two robots stars of the play, Takeo and Momoko, appear alongside human actors in the play Hataraku Watashi (’Working Me’), which was set in a future where robots and humans co-exist, the drama takes place in the home of a married couple who share a house with two robots.

This is how the end of the world started. Haven’t you watched Terminator: the Sarah Conner Chronicles? It all starts at as a robot that can play Chess. In this case, rather than playing Pong alone, the human player faces now a robot, which then kicked his ass and afterward taunted the poor dude with “No, no, no, and no. You are a loser.”
Wow! this robot girl is probably the creepiest I’ve seen thus far. Apparently, she was built based on a real five year old Japanese girl to make it look human.
It has 50 sensors and a series of motors to help it move and has been built to help pensioners and disabled people move better.

Howard Gordon of the Surveyor Corp. says:
This past week, we introduced a new open source 3D stereo vision system for robotics and remote monitoring called Surveyor SVS. It features dual processors, dual cameras, and wifi connectivity, and sells for $550. The SVS is intended for researchers, educators and developers interested in enabling depth perception in their applications without the need for an array of active sensors (e.g. laser scanners, ultrasonics, infrared, etc).
Meet “Tai-robot-kun,” a 7-kilogram (15.4 lb) underwater survey robot sea bream. It was created by professor Ikuo Yamamoto from the the University of Kitakyushu, Japan.
Michael Salter, an associate professor of digital arts at the University of Oregon is some sort of an odd ball artist, who likes making robot sculptures out of polystyrene. Hence, the name of his latest giant 22 feet tall polystyrene robot is called Styrobot.

Mr Asahi, the Japanese made robot is the world’s first robotic barman. It took eight engineers 200 man-hours and $180,000 USD to construct the 907.18474 kg machine.
The robotic barman is currently working at Selfridges in London and will embark on a nationwide tour, visiting Manchester, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham and Leeds over the next three months.
The Trons are mechanical controlled junk band, I don’t know what to make of this. See some of their videos yourself and let me know what you think.
The Trons are a completely self playing robotic junk band! They are made mostly from old computer and mechanical parts and play original songs using an array of old amps and instruments. They now have five gigs under their belt and have just completed Hamilton’s Ignition Fringe Festival.
