As reported on PC World, Sony have recently announced that it will release a firm ware update for the PS3. The new firm ware upgrade enables Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0, or BD-Live, to be supported on the PS3. BD-Live enables Blu-ray Disc makers to incorporate additional interactive features including downloadable video content, ringtones, and games.

Furthermore, the new firm ware upgrade also exposes the “Portable Copy” feature which I’m sure Sony fan boys wil be wetting themselves over. What “Portable Copy” does is convert Blu-ray movies to SD which can then be transferred to the PSP. This feature also allow you to transfer music and photo playlists from the PS3 to the PSP.
