PhoneBraver Robotic Cellphone Friend
Softbank Mobile Corp, a Japanese company, has announced the release of PhoneBraver, a robot buddy cell phone in April 2008.
PhoneBraver has two arms and legs, and a screen showing various faces. It cannot move by itself but it has movable joints and therefore can strike a pose. It also has enough artificial intelligent to learn the user’s phone habits and display text messages when the users make certain actions on the phone. For example, If the user calls a particular person too many times, a text message, such as “You’re calling her often these days, aren’t you?” might just pop out of the robot’s mouth. Users could then choose to carry on the conversation with the robot cell phone by answering it’s questions and comments. Here is what Softbank Mobile spokesman Katsuhide Furuya had to say about PhoneRaver communication capability:
We haven’t decided on specifics yet on the communication between the user and mobile, but your mobile would grow into a buddy different from others that are unique in the world
The price for PhoneBraver is not yet known. But don’t expect it to be cheap.
