Mayor shuts down kids food stand
Clayton Mayor Gregg Manning … wonders what Katie and Sabrina might do with that produce stand if the zoning laws weren’t enforced.
“They may start out with a little card-table and selling a couple of things, but then who is to say what else they have. Is all the produce made there, do they make it themselves? Are they going to have eggs and chickens for sale next,” said Manning.
Those are the thoughts of Mayor Gregg Manning from Clayton California after he ordered police to raid a vegetable stand run by two kids on a coffee table in front of their house. According to Mr. Gregg the area they are selling in is residential and not zoned for commercial selling.
I guess we ought to be careful next summer when we allow our kids to set up their lemonade stands in front of our houses.
Who wants a SWAT team coming in just cause someone decided to sell two cabbage, a head lettuce and a turnip in front of a residential property?
