A 20-year-old man, Spencer Taylor from Three Rivers, Michigan dressed as The Joker was arrested when he allegedly tried to steal Batman memorabilia at a screening of The Dark Knight.

Taylor was wearing a purple suit and had made his face up with white foundation and red lipstick to look like the character played by the late Heath Ledger in the new Batman movie as he attempted to rip-down posters outside the cinema.

Police made Taylor pose for his mugshots both in and out off costume.

The wannabe The Joker was charged with larceny and malicious destruction of property.
