Enio Abreu, 39, from Orange County shot and killed his 6 months pregnant wife Yailen Abreu, 22, and their unborn child. He later told the police he accidentally shot his wife, while cleaning his firearm.

Yailen and the unborn baby died at Orlando Regional Medical Center on July 7.

“Before I even pick it up, the first thing I do is check the magazine to make sure that it is empty. I try to keep the breech open while I’m cleaning it, that way it can’t fire,” Enio said.

According to the local police, only one bullet discharged. It first hit the husband in the hand and then his pregnant wife in the stomach.

Enio Abreu was previously charged with a felony for forging a passport in 1992 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in 1997. A few years later he was caught with a gun while soliciting a prostitute. The crimes were committed in Miami Dade County.
