Star Wars fan and founder of the Jedi Church Barney Jones was assaulted by a man posing as Darth Vader.

Jedi Church Leader Barney from Holly head and his cousin Michael were in the garden doing their typical Jedi Church thing, filming themselves playing with light sabers in the yard, when Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, who was drunk at the time after having drunk 10 liter box of wine, dressed in a black bin bag and cape, jumped over the garden wall and shouted “Darth Vader!” before attacking the Jedi boys with a metal crutch. He hit Barney in the head and Michael in the thigh for good measure. They both suffered minor injuries.

Arwel who has a “chronic alcohol problem” said he could not remember the incident and only realized what had happened when he read about it in local newspapers. He has since been convicted of two counts of common assault, and one count of very poorly impersonating Darth Vader.
