Japan Sent Kizuna into Space

Japan’s space agency has announced that it has sent a satellite designed to enable super high speed data transmission. The satellite Kizuna meaning “link” in Japanese was launched from the southern island of Tanegashima; about 1,000km (620 miles) south of Tokyo could transmit data up to 1.2 gigabytes per second across Japan and 19 other locations across South East Asia.
The total cost of the development, launch and operation of the satellite was estimated at $480 million and the space agency is expected to conduct at least 100 experiments via Kizuna, the tests are expected to include broadcast of the next generation of HD Television.
