Its Official 3G iPhone Available in the Summer
iPhone is dead, long live iPhone, the new 3G iPhone is on its way. The much anticipated new version of the incredibly popular iPhone, looks likely to go on sale in June.
Apple were unable to keep the news quite any longer, as the stock markets got wind of a huge order placed by the company, with Hon Hai Precision Industry Co of Taiwan, for up to 11 million units of the mega-popular phone.
It is believed that the new iPhone will at first be manufactured alongside the existing 2.5G model. Apple will be releasing the new model just about a year after the release of the original. If they follow the pattern, they adopted for that release, there will be a limited supply available in June, followed by a larger release in the autumn/fall.
Some industry analysts believe that the new order will indicate a massive increase in production of the phone. If this is correct, it will bring a huge increase in sales of Apple phones, taking them to around 8 million units this year.
Other analysts believe that the order will in fact be considerably smaller, again, following Apple’s previous marketing habits. The order will actually, only be a maximum and will depend on if the new 3G becomes the holiday seasons ‘in thing’.
These analysts believe that the order will actually be for one million 3G phones initially, followed by as many as 5 million by the end of the year.
It is very unclear what the situation will be with the existing iPhone, the new version will operate using a much faster network from AT&T, allowing for premium speeds for the 3G Internet users.
This will cast a shadow over the slower ‘old’ version, so drastic price cuts should be expected before the release of the new version. New features on the 3G are unknown, but should include a GPS function.
There are some other phone makers around the complete is new toy. These include the Garmin nuvifone with touchscreen GPS, and also the Sony Ericsson upcoming Xperia phone featuring a with a slide-open keyboard. And let’s not forget the recently announced 9000 BlackBerry that is sure to give the iPhone a run for its money.
