There are more than 50 million people passing away each year, imagine the negative environmental impact that would have with traditional burial and cremation practices. Death is something that nobody want to talk about, but maybe when we finally leave this earth, wouldn’t we want to leave behind a cleaner planet for the ones we left behind?

There are hundreds of green funerals and eco-burials services popping up each year as eco friendly people are looking to lessen the negative impact on the environment, hey, if you do go, might as well go green.

Ecoffins makes biodegradable caskets and cremation urns crafted from bamboo, pandanus, banana or willow, their entire products line are using only environmentally sustainable materials and materials in fair trade certified factories in South China and Indonesia. If you’re an eco friendly kinda person, chances are your pets usually follow your belief as well..or no food…Ecoffins recognized that and they even have caskets for your little furry companions.

Ecoffins do not contain glue, nails or artificial fasteners. They are also free of formaldehyde, chemicals or other preservatives. Based on its all-natural composition, an Ecoffin may fulfill the requirements for some religious rites and is definitely a more environmentally friendly choice for use in cremation. There are NO toxins released into the environment during the cremation process. Burn reports issued by crematories show low levels of particulate matter from bamboo coffins and a carbon monoxide reading of zero. In fact, there are less harmful emissions given off from an Ecoffin than from those of the human body itself.

Ecoffins manufactures their entire product line using only environmentally sustainable material:
Bamboo– not the species consumed by pandas– the ultimate sustainable material, grown and harvested in licensed plantations;
Pandanus– an environmentally friendly alternative to sea grass (currently under threat from coastal development, dredging and urban expansion);
Willow– cut from bushes known as crowns which remain harvestable for approximately 40 years before they need to be replanted; and
Banana– sheaves come from the trunk of the plant, which peel off naturally each year.
