Don’t host your site with Hostnine

We are back, but no thanks to Hostnine.

As you’ve noticed, Techotic was down for the last few days. The site was suspended two time within a week. No, it wasn’t because we forgot to pay our bills, but we suddenly got a few more hits than usual.

The traffic on Tehotic wasn’t that great, averaging just around 600 uniques a day, we have sites hosted on Host Gator with six times more traffic and they haven’t suspended us yet, but Hostnine did. Their support is just as bad, first they thought we were getting DDos, when we said it wasn’t DDos, they then asked if we paid our bills, which we did not so long ago.

As far as we’re aware, Techotic is still suspended with Hostnine, even though they promised to unsuspend us when the burst of traffic die down. On Sunday we had 9 unique visitors, so maybe they were waiting for the site’s traffic to die down to zero before switching it back on.

We finally moved to Host Gator late last night, and Techotic is now back online. We’ve been with Hostnine for five months now, and to tell the truth their server is often slow and down a lot of the time. So their promise of 99% uptime is just bullshit.

Why not you try VPS or dedicated hosting? More reliable and you have more control on your own hosting. And the best part is you don\’t have to share with others. Price of course is the issues for some normal webmaster and blogger.
