Samsung have launched their new lightweight X22 laptop. The new kid on the laptop block has impressive multimedia capabilities, combined with good all-round performance and excellent connectivity.

The casing of the X22 is a vast improvement over the company’s Aura model, which seemed to scratch with incredible ease. The X22 has a more attractive chassis than previous models, with a durable matte finish.

British company Virtuity has developed and patented some interesting software to help protect owners of vulnerable laptops from theft, or even just being moved a few feet.This new software, named BackStopp is designed primarily for government and corporate use, the company came up with the idea after a series of well-publicized thefts of government-owned laptops, which had illegally been taken home by government workers and were subsequently stolen either from their cars, or homes.

The MacBook Air has been ripped apart, literally. God knows why anyone would do this considering it’s such an expensive machine but still, cool. Ifixit are the people responsible, and they have some pretty interesting findings. First, they found that it is pretty easy to replace the HDD with a better Samsung 1.8″ 80gb drive. Secondly, they found that the multi-touch trackpad is using the exact same chip as the iPod touch and iPhone. Neato.

Looks like the Rumors Were Right - MacBook Air is Now Shipping

Akin to the recent rumors of the MacBook Air being released yesterday, it looks like they were really true. The MacBook Air is now shipping and are available in some (note, not all) Apple stores across the world. I’m very keen to see the first week sales figures. I’m thinking they will be pretty low considering the price, but then again I’m not an analyst. We’ll see soon enough.

It seems sources from… well, everywhere, are claiming that the MacBook Air will be in stores tomorrow. I’d say this would be pretty much spot-on, with Steve Job’s “1-2 weeks” claim. I’m dieing to go down to the Apple store and play with one.
