Apples Patents Digital Lifestyle Companion
Here it is folk, a series of patent filings discovered earlier this week reveals that Apple is planning on a fitness suite, a device it describes as “lifestyle companion”, imagine Nike + Ipod + Iphone on steroid. Don’t get too excited just yet, because it patented doesn’t mean it’ll become a reality.
The “lifestyle companion” comprises of 4 distinct components, namely, an iTunes-like software application, hardware-based heart rate and physiological sensors, a rewards tracker, and a component to facilitate synchronous group activities.
When you switch on the device for the first time, you’ll be bombarded with a series of interview questionnaires regarding your fitness interests, fitness goals, weight goals, desired workout schedule, health history, lifestyle and it even ask about your financial status.
Once you’ve done the interview part, the computer-based application would create a profile of you and a workout regimen base on your earlier answers. The regimen would then be synced to an iPhone or iPod touch, allowing you to monitor your workout routines and progress in the gym.
