Dancing legend Cyd Charisse passed away today at her Los Angeles home of a heart attack. She was 86.

Charisse lived a long, full life. She was a dancing partner of Hollywood legends Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.

Star Trek actor George Takei, 71, and Brad Altman, 54 yesterday beamed up a marriage license.

Takei and Altman were first same-sex couples to obtain licenses in West Hollywood on Tuesday morning. The couple have been together for 21 years and they will have a wedding ceremony on September 14 in the Democracy Room of the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles.

The Japanese Justice Ministry has executed three death-row inmates this morning June 17. Japan refused to abolish the death penalty at a UN Human Rights Council meeting last week in Geneva and today’s executions bring the number of death by executions carried out under Justice Minister Kunio Hatoyama to 13 since he assumed the post in August 2007.
