11 Year Old Kid is School Network Manager
An 11-year-old student named Jon Penn took over a small private school’s network when the IT support person suddenly quit. Ben’s mother Paula initially took over the role as an IT support, adding another responsibility on top of her already heavy workload as the school’s librarian.
Ben at the time was already known as the school’s computer whiz, who says his favorite reading material is computer trade magazines stepped into the IT support role to help his mother out.
The first thing Jon did was to map out the network to find out what was on it. He then looked at what the school needed, looked at the budget and then started to build a network. Quite amazing really for a kid of that age. I know what he did was just basic and anyone with a month IT support experience should be able to handle the role, but you have to remember that the kid is only 11 year old. Now tell me, how many 11 year old kid could do the same thing as Jon did?
Jon ambition is to obtain “A+ certification†by passing the computer-technician exam this summer. Good luck Jon.
